December 12th, 2011 - Paul's 12 Days of December- Krav Maga

Day #12- December 12th- Favorite 12 of 12 -  Krav Maga
WOW, can you believe it, my FINAL Favorite for 2011!  How the days have flown by.  Well, if it's the end and I'm going out, I'm going out with a fight! I went hard for my last favorite, I picked Krav Maga!  As some of you may know, I have been taking Krav from KMV  since March of this year and absolutely love it! To be completely honest, it scared the crap out of me and that's why I signed up for it.  Now, I'm so glad I have!  Not only have I gotten great health benefits from it (Cardio, Muscle Building) but I have also learned invaluable self defense and combat training! Plus, I personally feel by facing your fears head on you not only obviously conquer them but you are in powered and in so many emotional and mental ways.  How can you not be when you stare something down that scares you and overcome it??
Classes aren't what I'd call cheap, and KMV isn't going to give you a discount for being recommended by me (although I DO think I get something if you sign up...What?  Hello!  Isn't it time I get something too?!?) but they really are worth it.  AND, for all you discount, freebie wanters out there.....you are allowed to audit one class to see what you think, for free!  And why not take ONE CLASS for FREE to find out?

Plus, if you let me know, I'd even be willing to take the class that day too.  So to summarize, someone you know to make you feel more comfortable (i.e. ME), networking, getting a work out, learning great defense skills, trying something new and challenging, AND all for free!
What more could you want??!  Check them out and support this amazing (and my last favorite of 2011) business!

December 11th, 2011 - Paul's 12 Days of December- The Grid

Day #11- December 11th- Favorite 11 of 12 - The Grid
As I was creating this list and brainstorming ideas for it my friend Jamie actually reminded me of how much I use this next item and like it.  It's funny how sometimes our "favorites" are things we take for granted or forget about.  So first, go email your mom, right now!  Tell her you don't take her for granted!  Then come back so you can learn about today's favorite.   Back?  Alright, so for all of those taken for granted favorites, I feature The Grid today!
I personally, primarily use The Grid to stretch and massage my back (which it does AMAZINGLY) but you can also use it to achieve a comprehensive core body workout, from crunches to bicycles to pushups - use it to challenge core muscles and incorporate it into daily workout routines.  It also is compact so it travels well.  I love this item, I really do. Check out http://tptherapy.com/ for more information and other products.  Also, you can order The Grid from Amazon, just follow the link below.  Why wait till January 1st to make resolutions.  Make one right now!

December 10th, 2011 - Paul's 12 Days of December- WebCentric Studios

Day #10- December 10th- Favorite 10 of 12 - WebCentric Studios
This is one of those favorites very near and dear to me and one I am really glad to promote since I have such a specific and close relationship with them!  WebCentric Studios creates custom built web projects and offer complete website design and development services no matter what size of website you are looking for.  The other thing I really like about WebCentric, they created my site, www.GetPaulHoward.com
So, clearly I endorse and support them!  And if you want to see their work, just go to my site and check it out, if you haven't already (...which by the way, you SHOULD have already...many, MANY times by now.  Checked it out.  Right???  But I digress...) Or you could of course go to THEIR site, http://www.webcentricstudios.net/ and they have a facebook page, HERE, so like them there too!
If you or anyone you know is looking for website design, then the people that run this small business are the ones to contact!  Hard working and good people, they will be able to help you realize whatever you need in web design!  Mention that you are from my network and I'm sure they'll give you a special "Paul Rate".

December 9th, 2011 - Paul's 12 Days of December- Nib Nobs

Day #9- December 9th- Favorite 9 of 12 - Nib Nobs
So the holiday season brings lots of things, but what it brings the most of (it seems) are sweets!  By the way, did that last sentence rhyme (I really am in the holiday spirit)?  So #9 is MY favorite sweet, Nib Nobs!  Never heard of them?  Well you should have, they are described as, "moist cake and creamy frosting come together in a way that creates that often needed "o" moment. Nestled under a chocolate shell, these cool confectioneries will have you wanting more."  They come in AMAZING flavors like Chocolate Dipped Banana, Birthday Cake (their most popular), and Dark Chocolate Orange & Sea Salt (a personal favorite).  Plus they have seasonal flavors (like right now with their Candy Cane and Salted Chocolate Caramel)!  Check there website for local SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA locations that Nib Nobs are available.  Or order online, since they ship anywhere!  Great, right?
The other great thing about Nib Nobs is that they are a small business, and we all know the importance of supporting small businesses!!
I know I don't need to convince you any more to order some RIGHT NOW, but just in case I do, Nib Nobs have been kind enough to offer 15% off your order with the coupon code "Paul" as a thanks for being a part of Paul's 12 Days of December!  Now THAT really is GREAT!!  So order some for Christmas, or order some as a gift, or better yet, just order some for yourself, and get 15% off!!  Enjoy!!  Trust me, you will!

December 8th, 2011 - Paul's 12 Days of December-Yoga Shelter

Day #8- December 8th- Favorite 8 of 12 - Yoga Shelter SoCal
So let me tell you a story...Once upon a time there was a guy that for years heard that Yoga was "good for you."  He had tried yoga here and there, but never really connected, or liked it.  Something weird about it, something hippy-ish and uncomfortable and oddly feminine.  Then one day Groupon offered a coupon for yoga classes from a local Studio City business called Yoga Shelter (they also have five locations in Michigan) and this guy thought, "Alright, I'll try again."  He did, and he ended up not only loving his experiences there but finally understanding WHY yoga is so great!  Now, he loves yoga and posts things on facebook and his blog and other places encouraging others to try it!
True Story! :)
I encourage anyone local to Studio City (or anyone who lives in Michigan) to check out Yoga Shelter!  It's an amazing place, with an amazing supportive energy.  AND, you'll get all the amazing health benefits of what yoga does for your body...and to be honest, that's really just the icing on the cake for what it does mentally and spiritually for you!  If you are not local to Yoga Shelter, I encourage you to try yoga (a couple of times) it might change your life.  Or you might just have a great workout!
This quote, by T. Guillemets, says it best, "A photographer gets people to pose for him. A yoga instructor gets people to pose for themselves."
Check out Yoga Shelter and support them on facebook: Yoga Shelter

December 7th, 2011 - Paul's 12 Days of December- Jack Daniel's Tennessee Honey Liqueur

Day #7- December 7th- Favorite 7 of 12 - Jack Daniel's Tennessee Honey Liqueur
Alright, so shifting gears for today, this may not be a small business or an individual, but I figured this is most definitely one of my new Favorites this year, and you got to mix it up right?  Get it...mix it up?? :)  I also figured that many people have probably not heard of this yet, or if they have, they haven't tried it yet!  My thoughts, TRY IT, gosh damn, it's tasty!!  However, since I found a more articulate, detailed review on http://www.drinkspirits.com I'll share parts of that with you (for those looking for more details on it's taste): "The nose is sweet and spicy, with solid cinnamon notes and a light floral undertone. The entry opens with clear honey notes which is quickly backed up by a perfect level of cinnamon. There’s more spice here than heat and the spice is absolutely dialed in. The cinnamon fades in the mid-palate and gives way to a subtle milk chocolate note which lingers after a fairly swift finish. There’s absolutely no heat in the finish, and for a sweet honey liqueur, it impressively doesn’t leave a heavy residue on the palate."  So, to summarize....YUMMY!!!  Since I still feel bad for not writing a specific review in my own words I DID research for you the best (cheapest) place to buy it online, that would be HERE Shipping is high, but even with shipping costs, this site was the lowest price I found.  Also, you can check your local grocery store!  When you try it, let me know what you think!
Remember, and I mean this seriously, DRINK RESPONSIBLY and LEGAL DRINKING AGE ONLY!

December 5th, 2011 - Paul's 12 Days of December- Vonder Haar Center for the Performing Arts

Day #5- December 5th- Favorite 5 of 12 - Vonder Haar Center for the Performing Arts
I was fortunate enough to meet and work with Tracy Vonder Haar and was so impressed with her center I wanted to pass it along to all of you!  It is located in La Canada, CA and the center offers classes for kids to adults!  I personally think anything that offers children (and others) exposure to the arts is a good thing!  Excerpts of the Vonder Haar Mission Statement, really sum it up for me though..."To provide an environment which fosters young artists and provides an avenue for professional development and creativity...To develop respect and appreciation for the Arts in the performers and the audience alike...To entertain, inform, and educate audiences."  How can you not support THAT?
If you are local, take classes to support them!  And as a special offer, if you mention PAUL, the center will offer a FREE class with the purchase of a 4-class card.  Cool right??  They offer Crossover Cardio, Pilates, Tap, Jazz, Broadway Jazz, Ballet, and, beginning in January, BeMoved.  There is only one person in LA certified to teach BeMoved and they have her!
If you aren't local and can't take classes, you can make tax deductible donations.  See their website for more info: http://www.vh-center.com/index.html
Lastly, if you are local but don't want to take classes, go see their winter show, the Vonder Haar Center for the Performing Arts will be presenting, VISIONS OF SUGARPLUMS. See the flyer below for details.
Please support the Arts!!

Day #4- December 4th- Favorite 4 of 12 - Hot Coffee
No, not the kind you drink.  This is a documentary, and hands down, one of the best films I saw this year.  Remember the lady who got burned by McDonald's coffee and sued and was awarded millions?  Well you have NO idea.  It's disturbing, educational, amazing, and something EVERYONE living in America should see.  It is available via netflix or you can purchase it, via amazon by clicking the link below!

December 3rd, 2011 - Paul's 12 Days of December- Fiorious

Day #3- December 3rd- Favorite 3 of 12 - Fiorious
What you ask? Well it's not a what, but a who, and he's a singer, and I'm a fan!
Taken from his website: "Fiorious is a Bronx-born Italian-American Ivy-League grad who quit his dayjob as a pop music journalist and returned to the motherland to make his own music, embracing his Euro roots without sacrificing his New York City soul. The fruits of his wanderlust? A throbbing, hard-smacking orgy of electropop, disco-funk, and indie-dance." The guy rocks and you can even get legal, FREE downloads of some of his music! So what do you have to lose?
Check him out at his website, http://www.fiorious.com/ and become a fan on facebook, https://www.facebook.com/fiorious

Day #2- December 2nd- Favorite 2 of 12 - Sam Wynn
This is the guy! My hairstylist and the guy who does most of my hair cuts and looks.  Cut and color, sure, but remember my George Michael photo shoot? Well, he's responsible for that look, beard and styling too!  Sam is very talented but almost more importantly to me, he is hilarious and a good guy.  Sam works at BREE SALON, located in Studio City (12180 Ventura Blvd., Studio City, CA 91604) and as a thanks for being a part of Paul's 12 Days of December, and a treat for my network, Sam is offering 50% off a haircut for FIRST TIME clients now till December 23rd, 2011.  Cool, right?  Great opportunity to support someone local and find someone who can rock your hair!  So call (or text) 818-203-3355 and make an appointment and support my friend!  Be sure to say Paul sent you to get your discount!!

December 1st, 2011 - Paul's 12 Days of December- Loteria Grill

Day #1- December 1st- Favorite 1 of 12 - Loteria Grill Studio City
I love this restaurant! I discovered it fairly recently and it has skyrocketed to one of my favorites!  They have three locations in total (Farmer's Market, Hollywood) but I go to the Studio City location and have been impressed by not only their food and drinks but their AMAZING customer service!!  Some of my favorite menu items, 1) Probaditas -Sampler: All 12 flavors of their Tacos served on Mini Hand-made Tortillas and 2) Pollo en Pipian Rojo: Chicken in a Spicy Pumpkin-Seed and Peanut Sauce Served with Finely Chopped Onion. YUM!
If you aren't sold yet, they have Happy Hour, 3pm-6pm, EVERYDAY.  All drinks are 50% off and they also have discounted Happy Hour food available (I recommend the Chicken Chalupa).  And definitely be sure to try their Cucumber Margarita (seriously, amazing), just the spicy/sugary rim on the cup is worth the price of admission, and it's not listed on the menu, so be sure to ask for it!!

Paul's 12 Days of December!

Tis the season to be generous.  Tis the season to help others and give back.  I often feel that while I agree with these sentiments they tend to get lost or forgotten in all the business of the holidays!  This year I started thinking about what I could DO to change that, and hopefully add a little holiday spirit to my life and to others.  So I'm doing Paul's 12 Days of December!  What is Paul's 12 Days of December you ask?  Well, let me explain...Starting December 1st and till the 12th, each day I will take the opportunity to support and officially endorse ONE of my favorite things in the hope that others will discover and support them also!  Ah, now you get it, right?
I obviously have MANY favorite things (there is so much in and about life to LIKE) these are just my 12 picks for this year!  Ultimately, I figured things that I like, and am still passionate about, such as Tivo, Starbucks, Amazon or Priceline didn't specifically need my personal endorsement.   So instead, I focused on things in MY life that maybe you have never heard of or don't even know about.   Things that I am passionate about and want others to be!  Many are local to Los Angeles, where I live.  Some are more specific to me being a part of the entertainment business, some don't matter what business you are in.  Some you can eat.  Some cause sweat.  Some move your feet.
ALL, are things I endorse and hope you'll check out and support!!!  If you do like any of them (or find you like them) please remember to "pay it forward", check out their sites, LIKE them on facebook, and repost them to your various networks.
Wishing you a HAPPY HOLIDAYS for 12 days and beyond!!

Keep checking back here daily for the next FAVORITE!
And be sure to follow on FACEBOOK HERE to see the slow reveal of this year's HOLIDAY IMAGE!

See me, full length, and for free!!

Cold Heart Canyon, a feature length film I did a few years ago, has just recently been put up on youtube by Maverick Entertainment, for free!
Yup, you can now see one of my features for nothing!!  Ahhh, the world of free content!  Although, I do wonder how new content will be produced if no one pays for anything....but I digress!
Cold Heart Canyon is a sexy thriller that is a little bit of a "whodoneit."  I had a blast working with the cast and crew on this film, and while the pace was extremely fast, I think overall I'm happy with my performance.
You can see it for free now, Here!
Enjoy!

It's a MAD MAD World...and I Wanna Be a Part of It....

So I have decided to enter AMC's Mad Men contest and try and win a walk on role for Mad Men.  The really fun thing about the contest is that it is initially a popularity contest (based on votes) but the top 10 Men and the top 10 Women will become finalists and all will be seen by the creator and executive producer of Mad Men, Matthew Weiner!  For an actor, it really is an amazing opportunity!  I feel like I have a great chance, not only due to my amazing network of supporters but also due to the photo I am submitting.  I am very proud of it and worked very hard on it!  The photographer, Mike Thomas, did an amazing job, and special thanks to Camille LaBry, and Jamie Dedeaux for their efforts on the shoot!

So now here's where I need your help!  I need my network of supports, and friends, and family to go to the link below, register (only once), and then vote for me!  Every day!  You can vote once every 24 hours!  And after you vote, I need you to share, email, like, and pass along the link to get your entire network to join you in voting for me!  If you have to, yell it from rooftops, but tell people to vote!! Voting will happen until September 9th!!
Thanks in advance!

"Restaurang"

They say with movies there are three versions, the one that is written, the one that is filmed, and then the one that is edited.  I guess that's the case with Commercials too!
This is a commercial I worked on for the Swedish Company, Hitta.  Hitta is a Swedish search engine that offers telephone directory, addresses and maps.
The final version, that is currently airing in Sweden, is below, however the original script was slightly different.  In it a mismatched couple on a first date are in a fine restaurant waiting for their waiter to open and pour their wine.  After a struggle (and some inappropriate flirtation) the distracted waiter finally opens the bottle, but ends up spilling it all over the woman and her dress, at which point she storms out, date over!
The final version is a much shorter, simpler version but that's the thing with an actor.  Your job is only one part of a larger project.  At the end of the day you can only hope that you've done your job and that the final results will be great!
The shoot was a true pleasure to work on and a lot of fun.  The other actors and crew were great!
The commercial is directed by Markus Johnson and features actors Paul Howard, Iacopo Wachter, and Eli Jane.  Produced by the film production company Kamisol.
See it below.

Good thing I didn't text my mom photos from set....

This past weekend I had the opportunity to work on a really great, and truly unique, project called "The Train Station Project."  You can see the trailer below, but basically, 25 filmmakers from around the world, film different parts of one script, then all the parts are put together, to create a complete movie.
The Los Angeles sequence featured myself, the victim of a car accident, and "The Man in Brown" (the lead character of the movie), and a mysterious backpack in my backseat....I can't say too much more but the script is really great!  I loved being involved and can't wait to see the finished project!  The sequence that was filmed prior to LA was in Dubai, the one after is being produced in Bogata, Columbia.  It truly is a worldwide project!!  Very cool!!
Todd Felderstein with The Story Project (another amazing organization!) directed the Los Angeles clip and was a pleasure to work with, in addition to Camille LaBry (UPM) and the entire talented crew!
Find out more on the movie HERE and see the trailer and some photos from set below.

A robbery with a twist, in the END....

This is a project I did in 2005.  It was directed by Timothy Durr and features Anna Easteden and myself in a home robbery.  It was originally created for FHM's Joke of the Month.  So think of it as a home invasion, with a twist, in the end!
The project was a lot of fun to work on, and the talented Anna Easteden was a true pleasure to work with.  I ended up working on a few other things with Timothy and look forward to working with him again in the future.
I just recently acquired the digital version (Special thanks to Ryane McNally) and thought that it would be fun to share.  Enjoy!
